OUR GARAGE

Our Garage

I don't think I've ever shared this part of our home on here!

When we first bought the house it did not have an attached garage. It didhave a tiny 1 stall garage that is now our proverbs31girl office space but first was our guest house shortly after we moved in, but the rafters were so low and it was still detached from the house so we knew we didnt' want to have it as our main garage. For years and years and many long winters I had dreamed of having an attached garage. We knew eventually we would like to put on one.  April of 2021 came and the timing was right and we started the process.

We designed it together knowing exactly the spacing and the layout we wanted. That is always the most fun part (besides the completed look) is the design, it is so fun!

Ryan then was able to execute and do it all! He is amazing! A couple of his friends came out and helped with the framing process which was such a blessing. They cranked it out so fast with lots of hard-working hands-on deck...

It was a drawn-out process though and it is just now getting completed this early summer.

The final finishing touches were done this late spring when the slab of concrete and sidewalk got poured. That was the last major part of this project. Then we began growing the grass back, build planters and finishing all the landscaping!

What it looked like before

New Paragraph

In order to put this garage on we knew we would have to lose 2 really big trees. Thankfully we have quite a few big trees on our property so it wasn't that big of a sting but still sad to see these beauties go...

What it looks like today!

Woah! Okay, let's start with the left side. This side was fun to design. Most of you may know that my sister and I have an occasional sale that we do a couple items of years, anyways we do the checkout in the garage so we wanted to do a door on each side to make the flow of traffic smoothly... This side faces the big red barn we have and I wanted this to be a pretty sight to see as this side is seen probably the most.

Titan Iron Wall Sconces. I went with these outdoor lights from Home Depot. I loved that they are flush with the wall and are also all glass. They give more of sleek modern look.

Also on this side under one of the small weeping willow tree is a special rock in memory of my dad! We were gifted it from some of our close friends shortly after my dad passed and it is the sweetest reminder of him. The saying on the rock was one of his famous sayings. Every time I walk past it it makes me heart so happy to have this little space for him.

Onto the right side. This side is a little bit more simplistic. The walkway leads to a door on the very end to the left to enter into the garage.

The color contrast pops on this side which I love! On every side the garage has a very stark contrast with the white board and batten exterior walls, the black garage door and dark accents.

I had envisioned 2 large planter boxes with some sort of greenery in them for this side.

Ryan built the frames for me, then handed it off for me to finish. I used treated 1 by 4's for the wrapping and then treated 2 by 4's for the frame. Super easy!  Of course for color I went with the color Toasted Poppyseed, the same color as our cabin and the perfect muted black. Why wouldn't I?! lol. I plopped a few of these Cypress Topiary Balls in them and they are set to go now. I love the way it turned out.

This Clopay garage door is the star of the show! Wouldn't you think haha... She was a long time coming though, like I said above we started the garage in April of last year and the garage door didn't arrive until January. We waited long and hard for this beauty to come but she was worth the wait.

The stark black sold me immediately. We got to choose the Custom Wood Reserve Garage Door from Clopay Company.

You are able to customize color, pattern on the door, windows etc. Which I wanted because I knew what I wanted in my head, and they make my vision come to life! This may be one of my favorite's things of all time. It just makes such a statement and catches the eye instantly! We live off a dead-end road in the country of a small town, but I still wanted something with curb appeal and boy did this custom wood garage door do just that!

It checks off all of my design loves - Black coloring, Board and Batten, A wood beam pop, A faux green plant, A gooseneck light and a lot of texture!

And that is our garage for you! We are so happy with the way it all pulled together. A new addition that we now can't even hardly remember what it was like without because we use it all day everyday!
