THE WATERS - KITCHEN

The Waters - Kitchen / Eat in Kitchen

I love the challenge of designing a kitchen, especially when we are working on a smaller budget. Since the kitchen is the heart of the home it really is worth taking the time to put in the extra effort and all the little details that make it oh so beautiful and welcoming.  When we bought "The Waters" this is the kitchen we started with.

Since I always love to make a moodboard first, I put together this one to start to get a vision for the space.

I fell in love with the chandelier the moment I saw it and it was actually the very first thing I purchased for the space.  I always love getting one piece that stands out to me for inspiration. And I think the light was perfect.  When the space was all said and done, it turned out a little different than the moodboard but stayed pretty true to my vision....

Can you even handle it?  Lets have a little more fun with the before & afters and I'll share all of the links below.

BEFORE

AFTER

Although this kitchen is custom, we did it all ourselves with super budget friendly materials.  We bought premade cabinets from BMO in the cities and painted them ourselves.  We also added custom details like this fluted kickboard and drilled holes in the cabinets under the sink to make them look custom.  I also made this floating shelf myself with these corbels for under $14/piece, a 1x10 pine board, and some of this fun scalloped trim for $30. The whole shelf cost just around $100 but eliminated the need for upper cabinets and saved us a ton of money that way!

BEFORE

AFTER

Since this kitchen is quite small and I decided to add a table and chairs instead of an island with more storage, I added this tall black cabinet to house a lot of the extra dishes.  It also added a pretty design detail with the glass doors. I haven't been able to find this exact same cabinet but did link a very similar look below for you.

And the last most asked question is what are the paint colors?  I used the color "Paddle Wheel" by Glidden for the Cabinets, and the color "Sandy Clay" by Behr paints for the walls and ceiling, both in a satin finish.

I'll try to add all of the links I can below, but I did want to mention that we also used the birch butcher block from Menards to save a huge chunk of change.  We were able to cut and install them ourselves and we stained them Dark Walnut.  They only cost us $330!

Thanks for always being our biggest cheerleaders in our renovations and sticking around for true DIY timelines, not just IG magic:)
