The Porch at the Lakeside Cottage

This is the first space you walk into at the Lakeside. We knew that maximizing the square footage of this little cottage was going to be key. So right away it was a no brainer to turn the porch into the dining/game area. Its access it right off the kitchen and it has some of the best views in the place with so many windows. Many memories are going to be made at this table I can just feel it!

This was my vison board for the room before evening starting to get my hands on it.

I would still LOVE to put beams in here someday! But for now this is the reveal!

It is no surprise that I love these floor pop peel and stick tiles so much. I used them in our cabin porch as well as the bathroom here at Lakeside. When I first started to think about the design of each room, I knew for sure that I was going to use these floor pops.

It took me a little over an hour to lay down the peel and stick! Each color of the tiles comes separate. You can find the black one HERE and the light one HERE.  It cost $200 for the flooring in this room, the character it gives now makes my heart swoon!

When I shared the reveal on this porch space on Instagram the amount of love for this ceiling light was so exciting! It really is such a great finishing feature. This room has very tall ceilings, so it was so fun for me to shop for a light like this!

We dont have much storage in this little cabin so creating storage where we can be a huge factor in the process. I came across this beautiful black cabinet and fell in love right away knowing this would be the place for it to store household cleaning accessories.

The Oaks final outdoor reveal
By Allie Lundeen August 14, 2025
I pulled off the biggest surprise I've ever done... I can't believe it!! So a little back story - 17 years ago Ryan sold his prized possession, his 1991 Mazda Miata, to help fund a much needed mini van for our baby on the way. After I got pregnant I quit my job and we went from 2 incomes down to 1 income. We knew that a 2 person convertible just wasn't practical and that the finances could be used in a better way. So we sold it... Fast forward 17 years and it all comes back full circle. I put my 17 year old son Tate on the task of finding us a Miata that looked just like dads, and he blew it out of the water. He found the perfect car on Facebook Marketplace In great condition! He drove almost 3 hours to pick it up with a buddy and pulled off the best surprise ever!!! Also to note Tate has never driven through the Twin Cities or Driven a stick shift on any road besides a gravel one close to the cabin. BUT he was confident and crushed the challenge!! We stored it for the night and gave it to him the next day! I think Ryan's reaction says it all (watch the mini vlog below!) Our "19th" anniversary isn't until November but what fun is a convertible if you can't drive it in the summer, so we gave it to him early and are so happy we did! *make sure to read until the end for a good laugh ;)
