4 years ago I starting challenging myself to read the Bible through in a year....

One year it took me two years, but I am happy to say that at the end of this month I will finish reading the Bible through cover to cover 3 times.  I was 36 years old when I started and these are the things I realized....

*  I had a better understanding of who God is.

*  I found myself finding peace as the world was getting more out of control.

*  It often changed my mood and set my perspective on things above.

*  It has helped my marriage.

*  It has helped my parenting.

*  It has opened up communication daily between my family and I.

*  It has built our families foundation stronger.

*  It has instilled a love for the Word INTO MY KIDS!

I truly wish I would have started this daily practice earlier in my motherhood.  It's amazing to see how it has affected my younger kids.  Since last year Beckett has read through 2 different Bibles and is now reading it through the 3rd time, this time in a real full length Bible.  He often comes down the stairs, Bible in hand, pulls his chair up next to me and starts reading.  It's the most special thing ever.  I truly believe that kids can be influenced by us in the best ways possible if we are intentional in how we are influencing them.  I know that Beckett saw how important the Bible was to me, and thought it should be important to him as well.  We want to build strong foundations for our families, we want our kids to look different than the world.  We want them to be set apart, and the truth is, is that if we desire that for our kids, than we need to make sure we are leading by example.  Because they notice.

Ruby has just gotten to the point that she can start to read her Bible on her own and shes so very excited about it.  I am praying she has a love for the Word of God like her big brother, and I love that we can talk about what we are reading every day and the conversations it opens up are faith building and intentional.

So if you want to be intentional in your home.  If you want to find peace the world can't offer.  If you want to know God in a deeper way and grow in your relationship with Him, then JOIN US!  There's nothing you have to DO, except to commit to print off this FREE reading plan and commit to spending 15 minutes a day being in the Word .

The Oaks final outdoor reveal

I pulled off the biggest surprise I've ever done... I can't believe it!! So a little back story - 17 years ago Ryan sold his prized possession, his 1991 Mazda Miata, to help fund a much needed mini van for our baby on the way. After I got pregnant I quit my job and we went from 2 incomes down to 1 income. We knew that a 2 person convertible just wasn't practical and that the finances could be used in a better way. So we sold it... Fast forward 17 years and it all comes back full circle. I put my 17 year old son Tate on the task of finding us a Miata that looked just like dads, and he blew it out of the water. He found the perfect car on Facebook Marketplace In great condition! He drove almost 3 hours to pick it up with a buddy and pulled off the best surprise ever!!! Also to note Tate has never driven through the Twin Cities or Driven a stick shift on any road besides a gravel one close to the cabin. BUT he was confident and crushed the challenge!! We stored it for the night and gave it to him the next day! I think Ryan's reaction says it all (watch the mini vlog below!) Our "19th" anniversary isn't until November but what fun is a convertible if you can't drive it in the summer, so we gave it to him early and are so happy we did! *make sure to read until the end for a good laugh ;)
