Master Spa at The Oaks
Master Spa Hot Tub at The Oaks
We have Master Spa Hot Tubs at all of our rentals and at our home!! The first Masterspa we got was at our home over 4 years ago now, and slowly we've been adding them to our cabin and all the rental properties as well. To say we love them would be an understatement!
We truly use the hot tubs all the time. So do our renters!
When I was looking at getting a hottub for the Oaks, I wanted to try something different. We had went with white interiors for all of our other hot tubs, and they give off the prettiest aqua blue water vibe. But I thought it would be fun to try a dark liner and make it a little moodier....
I was not prepared for how much I was going to love it. Not only is the black swirl interior so beautiful, it makes the water the prettiest dark blue color, which just blended right into our Minnesota nature and lake life. This hot tub is the MasterSpas Clarity spa Precision 7 and it's a great size and so relaxing. We have the Clarity Precision 8 at home, which is just a little bit bigger yet. If you love to entertain and have guests over to hot tub, I would recommend that size as it's roomy for everyone!
You can also pick the color of the skiriting around the bottom and I think the black is stunning. We've done black on all of our hot tubs.
The 3 main questions we get about our hot tubs is, can they be used year round, even in the winter?
Yes! That's the best part! We get up to -30 degrees here in MN and we run all of our hot tubs year round. That being said, we've learned its not super fun to sit in a hot tub when it's quite that cold, but anything 0 or above makes it so fun to enjoy the outdoors while being nice and toasty warm in the hot tub. You will notice the temp dropping a little quicker when it's cold out, but we've noticed that even if we are in there for an hour it will still maintain at least 100 degree water temp! Our very favorite time to use the hot tubs is in the colder months. When it seems like theres not much to always do as a family, we can always go sit in the hot tub, and we always have the best conversations in there as well!
Question #2
Are they hard to maintain?
To be honest, the first year we had our own hot tub we struggled. It seemed like we could never get crystal clear water. But since having them at our cabin and rentals we learned that the key to EASY hot tub maintenance is to stay consistent! Once we started checking levels and maintaining the hot tubs on a scheduled weekly basis, it was so easy! We bought the little chemical strips off of amazon and check to see what needs to be added. It's actually not even that particular. If we are low on something or high in another, Ryan will just give a splash of this and a squeeze of that. We do use chlorine in our hot tubs, and we also found that having a floater with bromine tablets in helps immensely. In our 10 minute routine we also always skim the top water and vacuum the bottom and seats for any sand/debris. I added our favorite spa size vacuum to my hot tub list as well! If you maintain your spa weekly, it only takes about 10-15 minutes a week. In the winter when water evaporates a bit more, you will sometimes need to add more water which can take an additional 10 minutes. We also empty our hot tubs out twice a year, spring and fall, and scrub the whole tub and start with fresh new water.
Question #3
Are they expensive on your electric bill?
I have honestly been shocked at how energy efficient these hot tubs are. Ryan says the quality has improved so much and everything inside the hull is spray foams which really helps in efficiency. We have noticed that they increase our electric bill anywhere from $30-$60 a month, obviously the high end being in the winter. Which is less than our family going out to eat one night. That price tag is definitely worth it for the quality family time and entertainment we get out of the spas.
Lastly I wanted to mention that besides chemical and cleaning, we have had no issues with our hot tubs over the last 4 years. No leaks, no electrical, nothing. We have been super impressed with the MasterSpas brand, we love that they are made right here in America (Indiana actually) and we also have met much of the team and love them as well! They are so humble and kind and treat their employees great!
