Master Makeover

The project of our master bedroom refresh all started with getting new flooring in our bedroom. The rest of the house had our newly updated Urban flooring which I am in love with. Our master still had the old laminate flooring and I had been wanting to update it ever since we used our leftovers to put it in the hallway.  I wanted our room to flow nicely into the hallway and also have the whole house flow nicely together...

Updating the flooring turned into DIY the closet door to adding faux concrete to a couple of the walls to a DIY mantle to new furniture. Total snowball effect. It was a drawn out process due to having our family vacation smack in the middle of refresh but IT IS FINALLY DONE!!!

I'm so excited to share the details of this room with you!

So like I said, flooring was the first part of the project.

When I was searching and searching for flooring months ago, I knew I wanted wide/thick boards with a very light wash and graining. Our previous floors had a lot of contrast to them and I wanted something not so loud that would make our house feel a little more airy.

Isn't it gorgeous?! I am in love still even after this long.  These are literally my dream floors.

The flooring is from Urban Floor Called Brindisi. It is European Oak Hardwood flooring..

As there isn't much foot traffic that goes through our bedroom, the rest of the house has much going on with all of the kids and animals.

They have held up amazing and are extremely durable and easy to get clean. I'm so happy we went with this flooring choice.

After the flooring I decided to add a fun little DIY to our closet door, I have a blog post on how I did that project.

Click HERE if you'd like to check it out more in-depth.

Next came the couple walls and fireplace getting a concrete finish

It is a little tricky to get the full texture effect over photos but in person it is much more prominent!

To create this concrete look I used Surecrete Products. Note that it is definitely more of a process and a little bit more of a timely DIY BUT the outcome is amazing - It took my farmhouse style to more of a traditional style which I feel like I being pulled toward lately!

A fireplace close up of the texture - it adds such a look that I ooo and ahhh over!

Speaking of fireplace!

Let's take a look at what was such a fun DIY to do, The fireplace mantle!

More insight on the mantle, HERE is the blog post on this fun DIY and everything you'd need to know!

Okayyyyy shall we just get to the final reveal already?!

First let's take a quick walk back down memory lane to remember what this space looked like before today

And now!

Just a little bit of a difference right?!

The bed was the main reason for updating the furniture. Our previous one was a very low. Ryan was not a fan of climbing out of a low bed in the morning LOL. I like the modern look of a low bed,  but it was time for something a little bit higher for both him and I.

So I started the bed search and came across this black velvet beauty and was a little star struck. I had the vision in my head of how much of a pop a black bed would be and I fell in love! Don't get me wrong, it did take me a couple of days to actually soak in with how much of a contrast it was but after 24 hours I loved it just like I thought I would!

We kept all of the same bedding. I actually really love our bedding!

I'll share the sources at the end of the blog.

We also were in need of storage in this room. Our closet space is not very big. Sherpas take up quite a bit of room as some of you may know ;) So when I was deciding on what nightstands to go with I was sold on the dimensions of these ones. They are a excellent size with enough room in the 3 drawers to store many things and also fun to decorate the top of them!

Wood & Cane Transitional Dresser From Target.

The lamps on each side as also Target.

Large Ceramic Table Lamp

Rugs are an Amazon find. The bottom Chunky Jute Rug is great for layering. That is always a go-to trick for me when it comes to layering rugs and getting a little more height. The top one Ocean/Sand Area Rug  it brings in some colors that I don't usually add but the little bit of warmth is brings along with the pattern!

Something I personally really like is having a chair or a seating area in a master bedroom. This way there is another place to converse if the bed is made or a upright place to read your morning devotions with a cup of coffee.

The Upholstered Swivel Chairs are a World Market score! Some of the softest chairs ever.

The cute White Marble and Gold Metal Accent Table is World Market as well.

This window bench area. It is quite possibly one of my favorite places In our whole entire house!

The lighting that comes through this wall of windows is just glorious... I didn't do too much updating in this corner of the room other than a new mirror (which is yay!!) and this potted 73" Artificial Weeping Eucalyptus Tree. I gave the pot a little makeover from how it came to add a little bit of contrast with the black pops here and there in the room.

This Crate and Barrel Mirror speaks for itself, I get ready for the day on the floor right in front of my new mirror because I'm that obsessed with how big it is. Investing in a statement piece like a mirror is a smart move I think. Plus it always makes a room feel bigger with the mirrored areas...

I decided to swapped out the bamboo roman shades or
these thermal insulated window blinds. I wanted to soften the window area a bit. Implement a touch more of a modern to the room before it was complete. I went with the color Galen Ivory, which turned out to be a beautiful soft warm ivory color. They are so super easy to use with a pull handle of the bottom of the shade, pull all the way down and pull again to go back up.

This little nook use to be a spot for a TV and hampers underneath. We actually don't use the TV much in our bedroom, we usually watch downstairs In the great room as a family. So I had been brainstorming ideas of what I can make this cute spot. It dawned on me one day,

A little extra office nook!! I tend to take a lot of phone calls and zoom calls in my bedroom as it is a quiet spot LOL mama's you get it;)

so I thought yes what a perfect idea.

This Faux Leather office chair is the star of the show! Quite comfy and accessorizes the room just right with the correct tones.

And the room is complete!
