The Curtains in our Home

One of the most asked questions that I get so often is what curtains I have throughout our home. In the majority of the house it is the same curtains actually! I'll show you which ones they are and where they are from in just a minute. I don't often do the same thing in multiple rooms but these curtains have always been my favorites curtains for all the reasons - Durable, They are black out curtains, the color is perfect (they have many different colors but this color is perfect for what I was looking for when I was on the hunt for curtains)

Okay, so I'll share what they are called and where they are from, first and then I'll share how I styled them throughout my home!

Aruba Blackout Curtain Panels - By Threshold. This is exactly what they look like on Target.com. I mean surprise surprise they are from Target lol, Just can't beat them! $35 dollars is what they are priced at which is an amazing price point for the quality and the durability of them I think. I mean I purchased them for more than 5 areas in my home so I'm definitely sold on them!

THE LIVING ROOM

The living room and great room are where I get most of the questions asked about the curtains. They almost are very close in color to the Revere Pewter By Benjamin Moore trim I have in this room (and let's be real, in almost ever room in my house, It is probably my favorite paint color ever!! So versatile in any room with still a classic feel)

But they do have a very small texture to them which I like, adds a little grip to them + they aren't shinny.

THE GREAT ROOM

This is the Great Room. For those of you who don't know about 5 years ago we added on this as a addition to the house. This room and they above it is our Master Bedroom. Always, when we were designing this addition I knew immediately that I wanted as many windows as possible for as much natural right as possible! My prayer was answered, this room is 90% windows!! I love it and am so thankful for it because it is easily the prettiest room with all the light that comes through.. These curtains are of both sides of the room with the big sets of windows.

OTHER SIDE OF THE GREAT ROOM

This is the left side of the great room (the previous photos were the right right). These Black Doors are my prized procession! I had these before we even started the addition. I feel like they just speak for themselves I mean, the black and the gold hardware on them!

IN BETWEEN THE OFFICE AND DINING ROOM

This is a small little area in between the home office area and the dining room.

KYNLEE'S ROOM

It is fun to see the curtains in a space that has more of a bright color on the walls! This seeded slate wallpaper from Spoonflower in Kynlee's room is one her and I picked out together when we gave her room a little refresh back in the fall. I loved that she liked the pattern and coloring of this one because it was my favorite out of the options we were choosing from! And the curtains compliment that coloring but also bring in that neutral pallet as well..

THE MASTER BEDROOM

Our master space has a tricky ceiling, so when it came to hanging up curtains rods and curtains it got me thinking in a different way. But we figured it out and decided to do just 1 curtain at each window for height and chose a bambo shade for actually practicality.

As I mentions earlier the backs of the curtains are lined. It's a cream color lining. The blackout feature is so amazing that these curtains have..

The Oaks final outdoor reveal

I pulled off the biggest surprise I've ever done... I can't believe it!! So a little back story - 17 years ago Ryan sold his prized possession, his 1991 Mazda Miata, to help fund a much needed mini van for our baby on the way. After I got pregnant I quit my job and we went from 2 incomes down to 1 income. We knew that a 2 person convertible just wasn't practical and that the finances could be used in a better way. So we sold it... Fast forward 17 years and it all comes back full circle. I put my 17 year old son Tate on the task of finding us a Miata that looked just like dads, and he blew it out of the water. He found the perfect car on Facebook Marketplace In great condition! He drove almost 3 hours to pick it up with a buddy and pulled off the best surprise ever!!! Also to note Tate has never driven through the Twin Cities or Driven a stick shift on any road besides a gravel one close to the cabin. BUT he was confident and crushed the challenge!! We stored it for the night and gave it to him the next day! I think Ryan's reaction says it all (watch the mini vlog below!) Our "19th" anniversary isn't until November but what fun is a convertible if you can't drive it in the summer, so we gave it to him early and are so happy we did! *make sure to read until the end for a good laugh ;)
