SUMMER FUN!

With the hot weather and school being done, we’ve been spending a ton of time at the cabin! It always gets me excited to add a few things to the cabin for us to play with as a family and create the best memories! Since we don’t have wifi at the cabin (intentionally) and our cell coverage is awful, games and yard fun are the best ways to spend our time there! I rounded up some of our faves to share with you!

Last year Ryan made me a cornhole game and I personalized it with Dunn’s Cabin on it. Our family loves to play it, and so this year I wanted to add another game. When I saw this cute bocce ball setfrom Hearth and Hand, I knew it was perfect!

Although we’ve had this at the cabin for a few years now, the spider swing is everyone’s favorite, even Kimbers! This swing is amazing because it can hold 600 lbs so everyone can ride.

Beckett’s favorite addition to the cabin is this fun wooden gamethat we hung on the outside of the cabin. The kids had so much fun playing this game when we visited a restaurant, that when I saw it at Target I knew it would be fun to have at the cabin!

I have yet to be able to get the ring on the hook, but Beckett has been able to figure it out and gets it quite often!

And I love that it looks so cute against the dark wall too! A win win, it looks cute and it’s fun to play!

You might have spotted up above the cute new outdoor clock as well! I love that this one is weather proof and that it can spin to whatever direction that you choose!

The clock pops on the dark exterior as well and I love that we can even see it from the beach:) I want to thank Jo Jo for making these two things perfectly for our cabin:)

I also rounded up some of my favorite outdoor pillows and blankets. I absoloutley love making the outdoor seating feel like an extended part of the cabin, especially since we only have 800 square feet of living space inside. We need to make the most of this large deck we added last year!

There are so many fun items to make some extra special memories this summer! We are trying to be as intentional as possible with these sacred months we have with the kids and that includes quality time and family fun:)

The Oaks final outdoor reveal
By Allie Lundeen August 14, 2025
I pulled off the biggest surprise I've ever done... I can't believe it!! So a little back story - 17 years ago Ryan sold his prized possession, his 1991 Mazda Miata, to help fund a much needed mini van for our baby on the way. After I got pregnant I quit my job and we went from 2 incomes down to 1 income. We knew that a 2 person convertible just wasn't practical and that the finances could be used in a better way. So we sold it... Fast forward 17 years and it all comes back full circle. I put my 17 year old son Tate on the task of finding us a Miata that looked just like dads, and he blew it out of the water. He found the perfect car on Facebook Marketplace In great condition! He drove almost 3 hours to pick it up with a buddy and pulled off the best surprise ever!!! Also to note Tate has never driven through the Twin Cities or Driven a stick shift on any road besides a gravel one close to the cabin. BUT he was confident and crushed the challenge!! We stored it for the night and gave it to him the next day! I think Ryan's reaction says it all (watch the mini vlog below!) Our "19th" anniversary isn't until November but what fun is a convertible if you can't drive it in the summer, so we gave it to him early and are so happy we did! *make sure to read until the end for a good laugh ;)
