SUMMER CABIN OUTDOOR ENTERTAINMENT

If you haven't put it together yet because I say it time and time again, but the cabin is truly my happy place!!

I absolutely love it here. It's my spot that I can truly unplug, be intentional with family and friends and enjoy the simplicity of life. What it's really all about at the end of the day...

We LOVE to host here at The Cabin on Dunns during the summertime. Almost every night we have company over to enjoy this little slice of heaven with us. Over the years we have added to our collection of hosting fun to do with everyone.

Below I put together some of our favorites and what we use most while company is over!

Let's talk in detail

#1 Spider Web Tree Swing   - We have had this swing for years from when the kids were young to know teenagers. They all still use it! Perfect for little kids and even teenagers. The price for a swing like this is fantastic too.

#2 Bean Bag Stripe Chair - 2 of these face the lake right by the shoreline at the cabin! I love lounging on these while watching the kids swim.

#3 Popcorn Machine - This is by far a huge hit!! We keep this out at the cabin during the summer, super easy to make a batch quick and enjoy a snack on the deck.

In the winter we use in it the mancave for movie nights, it gets used often then too!

#4 Beach Towels - We have a ton of these towels at our cabin and all of the rentals.

#5 Outdoor Movie Screen   - This one is a fun added activity we invested in and has been a fan favorite for all our friends and cousins. SO easy to set up for a fun movie night under the stars!

#6 Vintage Refrigerator   - I had been eyeing this little vintage refrigerator for years, and I mean years. I finally pulled the trigger on it 2 years ago for right inside the front door of the porch. It has been game changer to have a fridge right there to grab a beverage.

#7 String Lights   - The best way to create the most welcoming ambiance = lighting. These are my favorites ones that last for years our during all 4 seasons.

#8 Adirondack Chairs   - Adirondack chairs are such a good investment in my eyes. They stand the test of time, are super sturdy and perfect for around a fire pit!

#9 Outdoor Doormat - This doormat is so good for a cabin. It grabs all of the dirt and mess off of your shoes when you scrap your shoes. Total win!

#10 Portable Firepit   - We love this gadget. We use it in the wintertime to roast s'mores.

#11 Serving Plater - Walmart has the cutest collection of dishes that I snagged this year including the full set and drinking glasses!

#12 Ooni Pizza Oven -   Our entire family loves this pizza oven and the yummy pizza's it makes. Perfect for hosting and something everyone loves for supper!

#13 Pizza Toppings Container -   topping container makes it so easy for pizza night and for easy clean up too!

#14 Inflatable Tubes -   how adorable are the colors?! The ones I got last year from Target aren't available anymore. But I came across these ones that a cute too!

The Oaks final outdoor reveal
By Allie Lundeen August 14, 2025
I pulled off the biggest surprise I've ever done... I can't believe it!! So a little back story - 17 years ago Ryan sold his prized possession, his 1991 Mazda Miata, to help fund a much needed mini van for our baby on the way. After I got pregnant I quit my job and we went from 2 incomes down to 1 income. We knew that a 2 person convertible just wasn't practical and that the finances could be used in a better way. So we sold it... Fast forward 17 years and it all comes back full circle. I put my 17 year old son Tate on the task of finding us a Miata that looked just like dads, and he blew it out of the water. He found the perfect car on Facebook Marketplace In great condition! He drove almost 3 hours to pick it up with a buddy and pulled off the best surprise ever!!! Also to note Tate has never driven through the Twin Cities or Driven a stick shift on any road besides a gravel one close to the cabin. BUT he was confident and crushed the challenge!! We stored it for the night and gave it to him the next day! I think Ryan's reaction says it all (watch the mini vlog below!) Our "19th" anniversary isn't until November but what fun is a convertible if you can't drive it in the summer, so we gave it to him early and are so happy we did! *make sure to read until the end for a good laugh ;)
