Ruby's Room Refresh

Ruby has been asking for a "bigger girl" room for the last year and she's been sooo patient!

We decided that we weren't going to take the playhouse in her room down quite yet (the storage in there is still very nice to hide all the toys), but the baby pink and little look is getting a makeover, which is sad for this mama's heart cause my baby isn't such a little baby anymore, but she is READY for a bigger girl room!

The Before of Ruby's Room

This is the mood board Ruby and I put together for the inspiration and the vibe that was the vision!

After

Ta-Da!! Just like that, a bigger girl room...

It always gets worse before it gets better. Taking down all the old and going through a lot of junk. But that always feels good to go through.

Ruby loves design so she wanted to be all hands-on deck and do this project together, which made this mama's heart so excited to do a project together!

One of the biggest requests of Ruby was to have desk in her room. She wanted to have a spot to do her school work, color, craft etc.

I found   this wood and cane desk from Target. It's the perfect size with one draw for all the goodies.

The adorable,   Scalloped Wicker Lamp is from Target as well as the Slipcover Chair. Adding touches of charm and detail!

We got to the wallpaper part of the project and I ended up going with the pre-pasted wallpaper adhesive. I like using the traditional wallpaper so much better because you can shift it and line it up way easier. I also knew having an exterior wall without much insulation, peel and stick can start to fall down.  The pasted wallpaper should last as long as I want it to until I decide to pull it down.

The wallpaper she chose is called "Northern Expedition" in the color stone from Urban Walls. Use code ALLISON15OFF for a discount.

It has a mix of wildlife and florals all throughout the pattern, as you can see a close up in the photo above and gives the whole room a touch of whimsy.

Wallpapering is not for the faint of heart, but the girls and I ended up getting in done in under 3 hours, which is a huge score. We got into the groove and away we went!

The trim and the house color is called "Brown Topaz" By Zinser. It matches almost seamlessly with her Beddys Bedding!

By now you all know that we are a Beddy's   loving family. We have them at our Cabin, Lakeside Cottage and our house. They are so slick for littles to make their bed just by zipping it up. Ruby picked out these adorable brown with cream stitching set. It is called Spencer.

Use code ALLIE for a 20% discount.

It is the perfect mix of whimsical and moody all while keeping it still girly!

We both are so in love with this wallpaper. I am already trying to think of another spot I could put it, that's how much I am loving it.

Ruby too!

The Oaks final outdoor reveal
By Allie Lundeen August 14, 2025
I pulled off the biggest surprise I've ever done... I can't believe it!! So a little back story - 17 years ago Ryan sold his prized possession, his 1991 Mazda Miata, to help fund a much needed mini van for our baby on the way. After I got pregnant I quit my job and we went from 2 incomes down to 1 income. We knew that a 2 person convertible just wasn't practical and that the finances could be used in a better way. So we sold it... Fast forward 17 years and it all comes back full circle. I put my 17 year old son Tate on the task of finding us a Miata that looked just like dads, and he blew it out of the water. He found the perfect car on Facebook Marketplace In great condition! He drove almost 3 hours to pick it up with a buddy and pulled off the best surprise ever!!! Also to note Tate has never driven through the Twin Cities or Driven a stick shift on any road besides a gravel one close to the cabin. BUT he was confident and crushed the challenge!! We stored it for the night and gave it to him the next day! I think Ryan's reaction says it all (watch the mini vlog below!) Our "19th" anniversary isn't until November but what fun is a convertible if you can't drive it in the summer, so we gave it to him early and are so happy we did! *make sure to read until the end for a good laugh ;)
