Read the Bible in a year with me!

Allie Lundeen • May 3, 2022

I have been sooooo excited about the response I've gotten when I asked if you wanted to join in reading through the Bible with me this year!  Last year it ended up taking me 18 months to get through it, so we started May 1st in Genesis to tackle it this year.  I know with the accountability of this community we can get through it in a year and gain so much truth and a more solid foundation for the days to come! This year I changed the reading plan back to starting in January for those who want to start fresh and join with us now! Feel free to download the copy underneath and keep it in your Bible to cross off the days as you go. I printed it with two pages on a sheet of paper to make it small enough to easily fit in my bible when I cut them in half:)

Reading the Bible through in a year has been life changing for me in the fact that it's done a few things.

1.) It's made Bible reading a priority, and even more than that it's made it something I look forward to every day since it's become part of my routine!  It only takes about 15 minutes to read the daily reading so there is still the ability to do a more in depth Bible study with it.

2.)  It has given me an overall view of who God is.  I often got stuck in the same books because who chooses to jump into Leviticus or Numbers, yet even these books help to paint the full picture of God's holiness, His glory, His actions, His grace, and the biggest redemptive story of all time!

3.)  It has given me better discernment for truth.  There are a lot of voices out there, and everyone is saying something a little different.  We need to know what we believe so that our views and opinions are shaped around the word of God, not the word of Man.  Wisdom comes from reading the Bible.

I get asked all the time what bible I use.  I have this ESV women's study Bible.  I chose ESV because it is one of the closest transcriptions to the original text and I love that it's a study Bible because it has commentary that helps you understand the text better, as well as history behind the text.

And its super pretty:) Which helps too!  They also include small devotions throughout that go along with the text.  I don't always read all of them, but everyone I've read has been amazing and encouraging!  Hoping you'll join me in this venture! It's never too late to start, no matter when you choose to do so!  God's Word is the only living book.  It's the way He speaks to us and how He teaches us.  It is an invaluable tool that too many of us take for granted!  I'm so very happy we are committed to make this a priority this year and see how God works in and through it!

The Oaks final outdoor reveal

I pulled off the biggest surprise I've ever done... I can't believe it!! So a little back story - 17 years ago Ryan sold his prized possession, his 1991 Mazda Miata, to help fund a much needed mini van for our baby on the way. After I got pregnant I quit my job and we went from 2 incomes down to 1 income. We knew that a 2 person convertible just wasn't practical and that the finances could be used in a better way. So we sold it... Fast forward 17 years and it all comes back full circle. I put my 17 year old son Tate on the task of finding us a Miata that looked just like dads, and he blew it out of the water. He found the perfect car on Facebook Marketplace In great condition! He drove almost 3 hours to pick it up with a buddy and pulled off the best surprise ever!!! Also to note Tate has never driven through the Twin Cities or Driven a stick shift on any road besides a gravel one close to the cabin. BUT he was confident and crushed the challenge!! We stored it for the night and gave it to him the next day! I think Ryan's reaction says it all (watch the mini vlog below!) Our "19th" anniversary isn't until November but what fun is a convertible if you can't drive it in the summer, so we gave it to him early and are so happy we did! *make sure to read until the end for a good laugh ;)
