My Top 5 Paint Colors

One of my most frequent questions that I get is asking about what a certain paint color is in my house. I am going to share the

Top 5 Colors that I use the most and have loved for years or ones I have found in the last while that I fell in love with immediately.

Finding the right paint color is not easy, it can look so different in the store vs at home or in one room different than the next. These are my tried and true favorites and I recommend to anyone!

98% of my paint colors I get in a satin finish in the Pittsburg Paramount Brand. Not a lot of stores carry that brand unless you have a Menards local. But just sharing what I get, you can really get whatever brand you would like.

There is one color that I get in flat finish, which I will share what one that is below. But I almost always do a satin finish!

#1

Simply White by Benjamin Moore

On the daily I get asked what color white I use. If you are familiar with paint at all, finding a white that you love is NOT AN EASY TASK;)

Simple White is the perfect amount of white/cream ratio with no major cold or warm under tones. A very good versatile white, I have yet to find a spot that this white doesn't look amazing.

#2

Revere Pewter by Benjamin Moore

The most asked paint color = Revere Pewter. I love this color, I've painted nearly every piece of trim in our house this color along with many cabinets and different nooks. It is a very creamy neutral with a hint of a warm undertone. It can look darker in spots that don't get as much sunlight, that tends to be when the warmer undertone pops a little bit more. If you love neutrals but haven't found an accent color you love yet, this might be your winner!

#3

 Onyx by Benjamin Moore

Onyx is the black that I use. The staircase in our house is this black, the ceiling in the office, Rubys room accents, the kid's bathroom etc etc. I have it in many places. It creates a lot of contrast to a home that is very neutral, which I love.

+ The Matte addition. The photo below is still Onxy but with a flat matte finish. Boy, do I love the matte look for moody spaces.

#4

Stonehenge Griege by Benjamin Moore

This color is a recent discovery for me. It is a couple shades darker than Revere Pewter. I painted it in a camper reno and immediately fell in love with it with the moody vibe it created I ended up using it in my bathroom!

#5

Toasted Poppyseed by Benjamin Moore

Toasted Poppyseed is a great in between Gray/Black. It's almost a charcoal gray color with a tinge of black look to it.

I always get this color in a flat finish. It looks more true to color in a flat.

Thanks for joining my little color school tour, I hope that helped you out with you color questions!

The Oaks final outdoor reveal
By Allie Lundeen August 14, 2025
I pulled off the biggest surprise I've ever done... I can't believe it!! So a little back story - 17 years ago Ryan sold his prized possession, his 1991 Mazda Miata, to help fund a much needed mini van for our baby on the way. After I got pregnant I quit my job and we went from 2 incomes down to 1 income. We knew that a 2 person convertible just wasn't practical and that the finances could be used in a better way. So we sold it... Fast forward 17 years and it all comes back full circle. I put my 17 year old son Tate on the task of finding us a Miata that looked just like dads, and he blew it out of the water. He found the perfect car on Facebook Marketplace In great condition! He drove almost 3 hours to pick it up with a buddy and pulled off the best surprise ever!!! Also to note Tate has never driven through the Twin Cities or Driven a stick shift on any road besides a gravel one close to the cabin. BUT he was confident and crushed the challenge!! We stored it for the night and gave it to him the next day! I think Ryan's reaction says it all (watch the mini vlog below!) Our "19th" anniversary isn't until November but what fun is a convertible if you can't drive it in the summer, so we gave it to him early and are so happy we did! *make sure to read until the end for a good laugh ;)
