ENTRY CHRISTMAS

I told you I love to shop Whimsy just as much as the next girl, so I always snag a few fun things during the sale.  Sometimes the sisters and I trade items and sometimes we just purchase them.  Either way it’s a win win.  When I saw this sign my sister Mel made I knew I wanted one.  I loved the natural look to it yet it was still playful!  And it fit perfect in my entry:)

I got the lantern from IKEA for I think $6?? and sprayed it red, it used to be galvanized.  They are super easy to take the glass out and spray.

and I got the scarf of Black Friday from Old Navy.  It was only $8.  I hung it there one day after wearing it and loved the pop of red.  Ry LOVES that I take a hook up with it…that and the pinecone ball:)

and the boots fit in good as well:)  What can I say, I’m a sucker for free decor.  Using scarfs and shoes?? Wonderful.

This is the view from our kitchen.

and here’s our eat in kitchen.  Sometimes I find it hard to decorate above the board and batten, and although I could have left it bare, it needed a pop of red.  This pennant worked perfectly and I could put it up with my ever-so-loved 3M command hooks.  No holes…perfect.

That’s it for Christmas…but I’m SUPER EXCITED to show you our craft/homeschool room that got the complete makeover…if you haven’t guessed already.  I love how it turned out and I did it for next to nothing.   I’ll keep you guessing til after the festivities;)

The Oaks final outdoor reveal
By Allie Lundeen August 14, 2025
I pulled off the biggest surprise I've ever done... I can't believe it!! So a little back story - 17 years ago Ryan sold his prized possession, his 1991 Mazda Miata, to help fund a much needed mini van for our baby on the way. After I got pregnant I quit my job and we went from 2 incomes down to 1 income. We knew that a 2 person convertible just wasn't practical and that the finances could be used in a better way. So we sold it... Fast forward 17 years and it all comes back full circle. I put my 17 year old son Tate on the task of finding us a Miata that looked just like dads, and he blew it out of the water. He found the perfect car on Facebook Marketplace In great condition! He drove almost 3 hours to pick it up with a buddy and pulled off the best surprise ever!!! Also to note Tate has never driven through the Twin Cities or Driven a stick shift on any road besides a gravel one close to the cabin. BUT he was confident and crushed the challenge!! We stored it for the night and gave it to him the next day! I think Ryan's reaction says it all (watch the mini vlog below!) Our "19th" anniversary isn't until November but what fun is a convertible if you can't drive it in the summer, so we gave it to him early and are so happy we did! *make sure to read until the end for a good laugh ;)
