CHRISTMAS HOME TOUR

Deck the halls and snuggle in, it's Christmas Time!!!!

We’ll start in the great room, it’s the place we hibernate all winter long with the wood fireplace and big couch!

A couple of years ago I took all the red out of my Christmas decor and I was a bit nervous that it wouldn’t feel as festive. But adding in the deep greens, gold accents and twinkle lights everywhere it still looks very festive!

This Balsam Hill tree is the showstopper of the room. We switched to faux trees 3 years ago after soley having real. The year all the needles fell off my real tree before Christmas was the last year we had a real tree:) I love the fact that this faux looks as realistic as a real tree yet can stay up as long as I want it!

The ribbon and most of the ornaments are also from Balsam Hill. I loved adding the champagne and mixing and matching golds and silvers. It keeps it looking fancy but yet fun with pom poms and fuzzy white ornaments!

Last year I took the chair out and had the Christmas tree on the opposite side of the room. This year I decided to move it to this side so we could keep the extra seating and I love how it’s in front of the window now! You can see it when you drive down the driveway twinkling and it makes me so happy:)

I’ll add as many links as possible at the end, but this gold hammered tree collar is one of my favorites. I love how it balances out the gold floor lamp beside the couch and adds a touch of glam on the bottom of the tree.

This year for the mantle I decided to mix it up and hang my garland assymetrical. The tree is on the right side so it flows off to the left to balance it out. I used a faux pine garland from Afloral but sadly it’s been sold out for a long time now. The stars were also from Target last year but these gold trees would be a perfect alternative!

I added these stockings for Ryan and I. The kids have their 4 stockings on the other fireplace but I liked the coziness these added to the mantle. Plus they have pom poms, so major win!

I also am not sure if you noticed we played musical furniture again and moved
this World Market chair in here. Our last chair was so well loved and super comfortable, but we couldn’t clean it good enough anymore and the stains were driving me crazy. It’s also great that this chair swivels so that we can turn it to watch tv!

And all of the seating has these beautiful boucle deep green pillows on them. The only color you’ll find in here. I love how wintery they are without screaming Christmas so that I can keep them up long after Christmas is over.

I usually have a faux tree over in this corner by the chair, but since we moved the Christmas tree to the other side, I didn’t have anything to fill the space.  This leaning wood floor mirror was the perfect answer. I love how it reflects the mantle in it, and by adding a command hook with a simple green and bow, it dressed it up for Christmas as well. I used this ribbon which I am so in love with this year. The subtle black and white stripe is the perfect neutral.

MERRY CHRISTMAS! Stay tuned, tomorrow I will share the dining room and other living room and continue this Christmas tour!

The Oaks final outdoor reveal

I pulled off the biggest surprise I've ever done... I can't believe it!! So a little back story - 17 years ago Ryan sold his prized possession, his 1991 Mazda Miata, to help fund a much needed mini van for our baby on the way. After I got pregnant I quit my job and we went from 2 incomes down to 1 income. We knew that a 2 person convertible just wasn't practical and that the finances could be used in a better way. So we sold it... Fast forward 17 years and it all comes back full circle. I put my 17 year old son Tate on the task of finding us a Miata that looked just like dads, and he blew it out of the water. He found the perfect car on Facebook Marketplace In great condition! He drove almost 3 hours to pick it up with a buddy and pulled off the best surprise ever!!! Also to note Tate has never driven through the Twin Cities or Driven a stick shift on any road besides a gravel one close to the cabin. BUT he was confident and crushed the challenge!! We stored it for the night and gave it to him the next day! I think Ryan's reaction says it all (watch the mini vlog below!) Our "19th" anniversary isn't until November but what fun is a convertible if you can't drive it in the summer, so we gave it to him early and are so happy we did! *make sure to read until the end for a good laugh ;)
