CHERISH - Week 1 - A marriage study

Allie Lundeen • March 12, 2023

Welcome to week 1 of our marriage study, Cherish!  If you haven't purchased your book yet you can find it HERE.

As we welcome groups into our homes or choose to follow along online, we want to take some time to really reflect what we want out of this study.  Are we ready to commit to it?  Can we go all in to see change in our marriage?  My prayer is that you answered YES to all of those!  We will take time in our small group to introduce ourselves to each other and really open up and say what we hope this study does for us.  I challenge you to open up to your spouse with that same response.  Let them know what you desire out of this marriage and study and how you hope God changes you and grows you.  The more we communicate and the more we are vulnerable with each other, the more we will grow!

Ryan and I took 5 minutes to create a video for you sharing our why, giving you a challenge, and especially MEN, Ryan has a word for you of even if you aren't sure you want to go along on this adventure, and your wife might be making you, how you too will benefit from it!

WATCH THE VIDEO HERE

Over the next two weeks we will read chapters 1 & 2 and then discuss them on March 26th!  Our challenge for you as a couple this week is to find time to pray together every day for 2 weeks.  It amazing what even joining hands and praying together for a few minutes can do to strengthen our marriage, break down walls, and bring unity within our homes!  We can't wait to hear what God is teaching you and revealing to you during this process!

I pulled off the biggest surprise I've ever done... I can't believe it!! So a little back story - 17 years ago Ryan sold his prized possession, his 1991 Mazda Miata, to help fund a much needed mini van for our baby on the way. After I got pregnant I quit my job and we went from 2 incomes down to 1 income. We knew that a 2 person convertible just wasn't practical and that the finances could be used in a better way. So we sold it... Fast forward 17 years and it all comes back full circle. I put my 17 year old son Tate on the task of finding us a Miata that looked just like dads, and he blew it out of the water. He found the perfect car on Facebook Marketplace In great condition! He drove almost 3 hours to pick it up with a buddy and pulled off the best surprise ever!!! Also to note Tate has never driven through the Twin Cities or Driven a stick shift on any road besides a gravel one close to the cabin. BUT he was confident and crushed the challenge!! We stored it for the night and gave it to him the next day! I think Ryan's reaction says it all (watch the mini vlog below!) Our "19th" anniversary isn't until November but what fun is a convertible if you can't drive it in the summer, so we gave it to him early and are so happy we did! *make sure to read until the end for a good laugh ;)
