BATHROOM RENO DESIGN

When we put new flooring in our main level we decided that we wanted to put tile in the bathroom instead of wood. And since we would need to take out the vanity and toilet to tile, we figured now would be a good time for an upgrade. If you remember, we purchased the cheapest vanity we could afford 9 years ago that had good shape. Two years ago I gave it a makeover and spray painted the countertop to make it a crisp white and painted the vanity chimichurri green by Benjamin Moore. This is what the bathroom looks like now.

This is what it looked like when we bought it.

And if you want to see how I transformed my countertop for $4 you can read the whole tutorial here

So this time around I wanted to change up the design a little bit (the fun part for me) and make this bathroom a little more dramatic and moody! The first thing I chose was the tile. I was so excited to work with Alexander James Tile Shop on this project! They not only have amazing hand made tile, for amazing prices, but they have been super supportive of my platform and using it to shine a little Jesus as well:) And knowing that this tile is made by artisans in fair trade businesses makes my heart happy to support them! Alexander James Tile Shop gave me a coupon code with you all for 15% off your order with code ALLIE. So here’s the floor tile I picked.

I’m in love with the matte finish on this tile and how it has the slightest texture. It’s so pretty and I think with the dark grout it will bring the dramatic and moody flare that I’m looking for! Here’s a picture of it fromThe identite Collective and it’s perfect! This next tile is the one I picked to use as a focal wall in the bathroom.

I love the glossy finish on it, but also the irregularities to the shape! It’s such a monochromatic organic look I think it will be timeless! You can find this tile here . Also, look at this picture! It’s also fromThe Identite Collective and I love the look of it even more now!

And I think the real focal point in this whole room is the rustic wood vanity with black counter ! I was so excited when I found it and I was even more excited about the price!

And because I love a little modern flare with rustic, I thought that this light would be perfect:)

I had so much fun putting the rest of the look together and am hoping it turns out like I planned on paper, always the true test! All of the items should be coming in within a couple weeks and I’m hoping to be able to pull this whole look together after Christmas!

The Oaks final outdoor reveal

I pulled off the biggest surprise I've ever done... I can't believe it!! So a little back story - 17 years ago Ryan sold his prized possession, his 1991 Mazda Miata, to help fund a much needed mini van for our baby on the way. After I got pregnant I quit my job and we went from 2 incomes down to 1 income. We knew that a 2 person convertible just wasn't practical and that the finances could be used in a better way. So we sold it... Fast forward 17 years and it all comes back full circle. I put my 17 year old son Tate on the task of finding us a Miata that looked just like dads, and he blew it out of the water. He found the perfect car on Facebook Marketplace In great condition! He drove almost 3 hours to pick it up with a buddy and pulled off the best surprise ever!!! Also to note Tate has never driven through the Twin Cities or Driven a stick shift on any road besides a gravel one close to the cabin. BUT he was confident and crushed the challenge!! We stored it for the night and gave it to him the next day! I think Ryan's reaction says it all (watch the mini vlog below!) Our "19th" anniversary isn't until November but what fun is a convertible if you can't drive it in the summer, so we gave it to him early and are so happy we did! *make sure to read until the end for a good laugh ;)
