A Switcheroo in the Boys Room

Boys room switcheroo

A couple years ago in 2023 the boys room got a whole room makeover! Which was so much fun! They still love their room, especially all the desk space. But the bed situation was getting a little tricky with a certain 17 year old that is growing like a weed!!

So we decided it was time to change up the bed situation a bit...

But before that I'll share the 2 blog posts of the last makeover we did on this space for those of you that are curious and wanting certain sources!

made these built in desks using Ikea towers with drawers and butcher block from Menards that I cut and stained.  The boys love having the space and do a lot of their school and work at these desks.  They haven't looked this clean since the photo shoot, but we'll show off their features for this post:)

and now today!

It is shocking how much space opened up after switching the beds! The ceilings are very tall in this room so it makes so much more sense to have a bed higher and a larger sized one below. Everyone is very pleased with this choice! Even though I did still love the look of the previous layout, this is so much more functional for our season of life.

I added these little plug in white sconces because Beckett loves to read before bed.  I love that these ones had the knob right on the light and you can also dim it super low if they want a little night light!  Plus the price is right:)  They are only $34/light!

We've been very impressed with this bunk bed set  as we have the lighter tone wood version at The Lakeside Cottage and it's held up great with constant use! The price of this bunk set is really great for it being so solid.  It takes about 2 hours to put together but the directions are very easy to understand. We are very happy with it for the price tag. What sold me on it for the boys room is that the top bunk is a twin and the lower bed in a queen, which is what we needed for Tate! I also loved that the bottom bed is detached, which means making it is so much easier than a built in bunk bed.

This mattress topper   is amazing! We LOVE it and I have gotten so many messages on how much you guys love this comfy topper too.  Also, if you love a duvet that hugs you, this goose down one is still a bit spendy but less than half the price of name brand ones and soooo good!  It makes your bed feel luxurious. Make sure you clip the $10 off coupon!

And these hotel quality pillows   are amazing!

The dark wood accents are just so beautiful! The perfect dark wood tone in my book.
